Community Mourns Loss of Arlo Byron Larson, 89, in Cedar City

Arlo Byron Larson, a beloved member of the Cedar City community, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on May 17, 2026. Renowned for his warmth and generosity, Larson dedicated his life to his family and serving others.

Born on April 17, 1937, in Mayfield, Utah, Larson spent his early years working on the family farm, where he developed a strong appreciation for agriculture. This passion for farming influenced his relationships and shaped the values he passed down to his children.

Larson's educational path led him from Gunnison Elementary to Manti High School, where he met Darlene, the love of his life. They married on July 20, 1956, in the LDS Manti Temple, forming a partnership that would endure until her passing. Together, they built a life rich in love and meaningful connections.

In his professional life as a hardware salesman, Larson thrived on interacting with people. His honesty and ability to connect fostered deep relationships within the community, earning him respect. His kindness extended beyond business; he often sought ways to assist those in need, such as providing Thanksgiving turkeys for families facing difficulties.

Throughout his life, Larson was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, taking on various leadership roles, including Elders Quorum President. His commitment to his faith was clear in how he engaged with the community and ministered to fellow members. In later years, he and Darlene served as temple workers, a role they cherished.

Larson is survived by his five children, 15 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. His family brought him immense joy, and he made a point to stay connected, often reaching out with daily calls to express his love and support. After Darlene's passing, his family became an even greater source of comfort and happiness.

The community will gather to honor his life on May 27, 2026, at the Cedar City Hillcrest LDS Church. Viewings will precede the service, allowing friends and family to pay their respects. Larson's legacy of kindness, service, and devotion to family will leave a lasting impact on all who knew him.
