Rumours of New inFAMOUS Project Ignite Hopes for PS5 Remakes

Recent discussions surrounding the inFAMOUS franchise have stirred excitement among fans, with hints about a possible new project in development at PlayStation. VGC's Jordan Middler reported that an inFAMOUS title may be in the works, although it is not being led by Sucker Punch, the series' original developer.

During a podcast episode for VGC, Middler mentioned he is "under the impression that there is an inFAMOUS thing happening somewhere else in PlayStation at the minute." This comment has sparked speculation about whether the project could involve remakes of the classic titles from the PS3 era. While Middler did not confirm this directly, he noted it was heavily implied during his discussions.

However, caution is warranted. In a later appearance on the Kinda Funny Gamescast, Middler clarified that his information came from a single source, leaving many details unverified. He expressed uncertainty about the project's current status, saying, "there's a chance the project could have been cancelled by now, but that's what I've heard."

Fans of inFAMOUS have taken to social media and Reddit to share their hopes for remakes of the first two titles, which have been frequently requested over the years. Reddit user Sraffiti_G shared their enthusiasm, stating, "I really hope it's real, I'd love remakes of 1 and 2 or a direct sequel to Second Son." On the flip side, some fans express skepticism about the lack of involvement from Sucker Punch. Another Reddit user, Walkingguy86, voiced their concerns, stating, "If Sucker Punch isn't connected, then frankly, I want nothing to do with it. And at this point, I'm beyond holding out hope for a remaster of 1 or 2." Historically, Sucker Punch has indicated that it had no immediate plans to revisit the inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper franchises. In 2022, the studio confirmed that no other developers were working on related projects. However, the situation may have changed since then.

Nate Fox, an executive at Sucker Punch, expressed a desire to revisit inFAMOUS, mentioning, "I would love to see a trilogy re-release, but Sucker Punch is a one game at a time shop, and right now we are very focused on finishing Ghost of Yotei." With Ghost of Yotei now released and its free Legends mode available, there may be room for the studio to consider other projects.
