Acer Predator Helios Neo 2026 Launches with Intel Ultra CPUs and RTX 5080 GPUs

Acer's latest gaming laptop lineup, the Predator Helios Neo, is set to arrive in the UAE this June, featuring enhancements tailored for serious gamers and content creators. The new models, equipped with Intel's Core Ultra 290HX Plus processors and NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPUs, promise high-performance gaming experiences across three variants: the 16S AI, 16 AI, and 18 AI.

Performance and Features

The Predator Helios Neo series is built to meet the needs of competitive gamers and high-end content creators. The standout 16S AI variant weighs only 2.3kg and measures under 18.9mm thick, ensuring portability without sacrificing power. It boasts a 16-inch OLED HDR display with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 1ms response time, achieving 100% DCI-P3 colour accuracy—ideal for gamers who prioritize visual precision.

For cooling, the 16S AI uses 5th Generation Predator AeroBlade 3D fans and liquid metal thermal grease. However, it lacks vector heat pipes, which might affect its performance during prolonged gaming sessions.

The 16 AI model balances performance and portability, weighing 2.7kg and featuring the same OLED HDR display, albeit with a slightly lower refresh rate of 165Hz. This variant includes vector heat pipes for improved cooling. Additionally, it features Intel Killer Ethernet E3100, which prioritizes network performance—making it a great choice for streamers.

The 18 AI model, weighing 3.4kg, presents the largest display in the lineup with a WQXGA panel running at 240Hz. While it opts for a conventional panel instead of OLED, it includes Ambient Contrast Ratio film to reduce glare, enhancing visibility in bright environments. This heavier model also shares the advanced cooling system found in the 16 AI, potentially improving thermal performance.

Intel and NVIDIA Power

All three laptops can be configured with either the Intel Core Ultra 290HX Plus or the Core Ultra 270HX Plus processors. These new chips reportedly deliver up to 47% better performance and enhanced power efficiency compared to earlier models. This performance boost is crucial, as real-world gaming experiences depend on the capabilities of the RTX 5080 GPU as much as on the CPU.

The RTX 5080 Laptop GPU, featuring 16GB GDDR7 VRAM, is built on NVIDIA's Blackwell architecture and supports DLSS 4.5 for improved gaming performance. However, Laptop GPUs usually operate at lower power limits than their desktop counterparts, which may affect their performance under heavy loads.

AI Features and Gaming Enhancements

The Predator Helios Neo series also incorporates several AI-driven features designed to enhance the gaming experience. Acer's PurifiedVoice technology uses AI for noise reduction in communications, while PurifiedView boosts webcam clarity during streams. The Game Assistant feature offers aiming support, which could be pivotal for competitive players.

The Predator Helios Neo lineup will launch in the UAE in June 2026, with North American and Australian releases planned for July. While Acer has not disclosed pricing details for these models, estimates based on previous releases suggest that entry-level configurations could start above Dhs 10,000, reflecting the premium components and features included.
