AT&T’s New Build-A-Plan Starts at $15 Monthly for Customizable Options

AT&T has introduced a new customizable mobile plan called Build-A-Plan, starting at a competitive $15 per month. This plan includes unlimited talk and text along with 1GB of mobile data, allowing consumers to tailor their mobile experience to their specific needs.

Build-A-Plan is aimed at those seeking flexibility in their cellular service. Users can enhance their plan by purchasing additional data for their next billing cycle. For instance, adding 5GB of mobile data costs an extra $5, while 10GB is available for $10. For those who want unlimited data, AT&T offers a standard-definition option for $20, enabling streaming at speeds of 2Mbps for 5G devices and 1.5Mbps for 4G devices. Users looking for higher-quality streaming can choose unlimited HD data for $35.

Hotspot data is also on offer, with options of 5GB, 25GB, or 50GB priced at $5, $15, and $20, respectively. However, it's important to note that purchasing additional data replaces the base 1GB allocation rather than adding to it. Thus, buying 5GB results in a total of 5GB for the month, not 6GB. If users exceed their monthly data cap, AT&T will not disconnect service but will throttle speeds to just 128Kbps for the remainder of the billing period.

This plan will be available online starting May 27 and is limited to one line per account. It does not support add-ons for other devices like tablets or smartwatches. The choice to make this option online-only has raised concerns, particularly since less tech-savvy customers often prefer in-store assistance when selecting plans.

As wireless consumers increasingly seek personalized solutions, AT&T’s Build-A-Plan could be an attractive option for those willing to navigate its limitations.
