007 First Light Enhances Visuals with PS5 Pro’s PSSR Upgrade

The upcoming release of 007 First Light is set to take advantage of the PlayStation 5 Pro's enhanced visual capabilities, featuring an upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) that aims to deliver superior image quality and stability. This new technology promises to significantly enhance the gaming experience, especially in complex scenes with intricate lighting and detailed outdoor environments.

Launching on May 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, 007 First Light will have the upgraded PSSR enabled by default on the PS5 Pro. This ensures players will enjoy a cleaner and more stable image compared to previous upscaling methods. IO Interactive has highlighted that this enhancement greatly reduces common graphical artifacts such as shimmering and flickering, which can disrupt immersion, particularly during action-packed sequences featuring Bond.

The studio pointed out that the improvements will be most noticeable during close-ups and in areas rich with vegetation and intricate geometry. As players navigate the game, they can expect better temporal stability. Fast movements—whether Bond is darting between cover or the camera is dynamically shifting during a skirmish—will maintain clarity throughout. This addresses a common complaint among gamers regarding image degradation during rapid action.

For non-PS5 Pro platforms, including Xbox and PC, IO Interactive will implement AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 3.1.5 technology. While this alternative is stable, the studio acknowledges that the PSSR upgrade on PS5 Pro will deliver a distinctly improved visual experience. A version tailored for the Nintendo Switch 2 is also planned for release later this summer, though details on enhancements for that platform are still limited.
